Common Incubation Center for Potato and Petha Processing Set to Launch in Agra’s Dauki Area
Good news for farmers and entrepreneurs in the Agra region—the first Common Incubation Center under the PM Micro Food Upgradation Scheme is nearing completion in Dauki and will soon begin operations. The facility, spread across 7,000 square feet, includes a 5,000-square-foot processing hall along with storage and training rooms. Machinery for potato and petha (ash gourd) processing, valued at 3.7 million and 5.8 million INR respectively, has already arrived, with a namkeen (savory snack) processing line expected soon. Each machine has a processing capacity of 150–200 kg per hour, enabling the production of potato chips, powder, various petha products, and packaged snacks. Farmers and entrepreneurs will be able to rent the equipment at affordable rates to process and pack their raw materials, making it easier to sell finished goods directly in the market.
Training and Economic Impact:
Beyond processing infrastructure, the center will also offer training programs for farmers, young entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in processing and packaging techniques. This skill development component aims to empower participants to establish their own processing units in the future. Officials from the Food Processing Department confirmed that installation work is currently underway and operations will commence shortly. The initiative is expected to significantly boost local agricultural value addition, reduce post-harvest losses, and create new income opportunities for both growers and small-scale food processors in the region.
