China’s First High-Density Mini-Potato Planter Passes Field Trials in Gansu

In April 2026, Zhuanglang County in Gansu Province hosted successful field trials of China’s first high-density, compact potato planting machine. The equipment integrates three core functions in a single pass: drip tape laying, plastic film mulching, and precision seeding. Developed by specialists in Gansu Province, the machine was designed specifically to address a long-standing gap in mechanization—the absence of dedicated equipment for planting mini-potatoes, a crop gaining importance in high-value and seed-potato production.
