An industry newsroom, not a job board
Potatoes.News has covered the global potato industry since 2010. What started as a website is now a newsroom publishing across eight platforms in more than twenty languages, with an audience spread across 240 countries.
Our search reporting reached over six million impressions in the last sixteen months. Our LinkedIn network delivers more than 1.2 million impressions a year across eight language pages. Readers include people from PepsiCo, McCain Foods, Syngenta, GRIMME, HZPC, KWS and the International Potato Center.
The core of the operation is the International Potato Tour — our field-documentary programme. We drive to farms, storages and processing plants and film what is actually happening there. One filming day becomes a documentary, a podcast episode, an article and short-form clips.
We are small, we move fast, and we are expanding.
Where we are heading
2027 season: up to 32 flagship field stories across Central Russia and the Urals, plus international coverage from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
POTATO 2.0 podcast: long-form conversations with agronomists, breeders and industry leaders, in Russian and English.
International stages: the World Potato Congress in Kenya and the Global Potato Summit in India.
Language expansion: we launched a Farsi channel on Telegram in 2026 after discovering Iran was our most engaged readership. Hindi is next, ahead of the India summit. More will follow, each on the platform its audience actually uses.
If you want to help build any of that, read on.
Open roles
Partnership & Advertising Agent
Format: Remote, freelance Compensation: Commission — up to 50% of contract value
You will represent Potatoes.News and the International Potato Tour to potential partners: machinery manufacturers, input suppliers, seed companies, processors and trade organisations.
What you sell: annual partnership packages, sponsored field documentaries, podcast sponsorship, banner placement and single publications. Real products with a real audience behind them — we provide the media kit with verified platform analytics, and we send raw exports to any partner who asks.
What you get: up to 50% commission on every contract you close. No cap, no territory limits.
Who fits: someone with existing contacts in agribusiness, or the persistence to build them. Experience selling media, sponsorship or agricultural inputs helps. Fluency in a language beyond English is an advantage — our strongest markets are the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Northwest Europe.
Freelance Writer / Contributor
Format: Freelance, paid per article or on a joint-project basis
We publish agronomy, market analysis, variety and seed news, machinery reviews and field reports.
Freelance: pitch and write analytical pieces, field reports or news. Paid per article.
Specialists: if you are an agronomist, breeder, plant pathologist or processing engineer, we want your expertise more than your prose. We can handle the writing.
Joint projects: if you have industry clients, we can co-produce sponsored content that serves all sides — editorial standards intact.
What we look for: something readers cannot get elsewhere. A trial result, a failure worth explaining, a regional development nobody has covered in English. We are not looking for rewrites of press releases.
Languages: we publish primarily in English. Contributors writing in Russian, Farsi, Hindi, Dutch, Spanish, German or Arabic are welcome — we handle translation.
Video Creator
Format: Freelance or commissioned
Video is the centre of what we do. We publish to YouTube, VK Video, TikTok and Telegram, and we produce full documentaries for partners.
Freelance: pitch your own stories. If you have access to farms, processing facilities or industry events we cannot reach, we are interested.
Commissioned: specific assignments — filming an event, a farm visit, a machinery review, a corporate documentary for a partner. Paid per project.
Who fits: you can film in a field in bad weather and come back with something watchable. Technical polish matters less than knowing what to point the camera at. Experience with agricultural or industrial subjects is a strong advantage.
Geography: we work worldwide. Local creators in India, Iran, Egypt, Kenya, Uzbekistan, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan are particularly welcome — these are markets where we have readers but limited filming capacity.
How we work
Results over formalities. We do not run interview panels or ask for cover letters. Show us something you have made.
Editorial independence. Partners review material before publication and may correct factual errors about their own products. Editorial conclusions remain ours. This applies to sponsored work as much as anything else — it is precisely why the coverage is worth having.
Remote by default. The team is distributed. The only thing that requires being somewhere specific is filming.
