Belarusian scientists have developed the first six-row potato planter in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), designed and manufactured at the experimental plant of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in just four months. The new machine can plant up to 25 hectares of potatoes per day, adapts to different soil types, and is made entirely from domestically produced components. This innovation is part of a national technological chain that covers the entire production cycle—from planting to final packaging.

The experimental plant is the only enterprise in Belarus producing a full range of equipment for potato and vegetable cultivation, including planting, harvesting, sorting, washing, packaging, and vacuum-sealing. The company manufactures about 800 units of machinery annually and introduces at least two new import-substituting technologies each year. The post-harvest line is fully automated: potatoes are cleaned, sorted, and graded without human intervention, while a computer station weighs and checks the quality of each tuber, with another machine automatically filling containers with up to 1.5 tons of potatoes. The final stage—vacuum packaging—allows the product to be stored for up to two weeks without preservatives. Through this technology, Belarus is building a complete national production chain using domestically manufactured equipment, strengthening technological independence and food security.
