SOLANA Group Celebrates Opening of New Seed Breeding Facility in Schleswig-Holstein

After 1.5 years of construction, SOLANA Group opens its state-of-the-art seed breeding building and greenhouse, marking a new chapter in agricultural innovation.

On August 28, 2024, the SOLANA Group officially inaugurated its new seed breeding building and greenhouse, following 1.5 years of construction. The event was attended by around 130 employees and guests, including Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, who expressed pride in the company’s commitment to the region. The new facility will support the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance potato breeding and agricultural sustainability, offering modern infrastructure and expanding job opportunities.

Leo von Kameke, Managing Partner of SOLANA Group, addressed the team of approximately 60 employees at the site, acknowledging their contributions to the project. “I am delighted that we are opening the building today: This is for you,” he said, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in the success of the project.

In his welcoming speech, Minister President Daniel Günther highlighted the value of family-owned businesses like SOLANA Group to the local economy. “Family businesses are very important for our state. They are characterised by great loyalty to the location, are deeply rooted in the region, and are a stabilising factor in our economy,” said Günther. He also praised the company’s decision to invest in Schleswig-Holstein, citing it as a positive sign of confidence in the region’s business environment.

The opening of this new facility is not only an investment in the future of potato breeding but also in the local community, as the expansion has created additional jobs, with more positions expected to be filled in the near future. The new greenhouse and breeding center will bolster the SOLANA Group’s capabilities in producing high-quality seed potatoes that meet the growing demands of the agricultural sector.

As the industry continues to evolve, the SOLANA Group’s new facility demonstrates a commitment to innovation and sustainability in potato cultivation. This state-of-the-art infrastructure is poised to enhance research and development efforts, allowing the company to strengthen its position as a leader in the global seed potato market.
