Siberian farmers harvested 2.4 million tons of potatoes in 2025, accounting for 12.3% of Russia’s total crop and securing third place among all federal districts, according to an analysis by the Rosselkhozbank’s Center for Industry Expertise. The Central Federal District took first place with 6.43 million tons, followed by the Volga Federal District with 4.83 million tons. Within Siberia, the Krasnoyarsk Krai emerged as the regional leader, producing 504,100 tons, followed by Altai Krai (434,800 tons) and Omsk Oblast (378,600 tons). Kemerovo, Irkutsk, and Novosibirsk oblasts rounded out the top six, while the remaining Siberian regions each produced less than 100,000 tons.
A notable trend: more than 55% of all potatoes grown in Russia are cultivated, stored, and preserved by private households rather than large agricultural enterprises. In Krasnoyarsk Krai, individual households accounted for 380,000 tons of the region’s harvest. However, unfavorable weather conditions in late summer slightly reduced the overall results for both farms and households in the region. Analysts from the Center for Industry Expertise forecast an increase in gross potato harvest for Krasnoyarsk Krai in 2026, which, combined with steady annual growth across the Siberian Federal District, should help Siberia maintain its position in the national ranking.
