On the eve of Russian Farmer’s Day, celebrated on June 10, Kemerovo Oblast Governor Ilya Seredyuk highlighted the region’s agricultural leaders. With over a thousand farms operating in Kuzbass, one standout is Pavel Bashmakov from the Prokopyevsk district. Raised in a farming family, he helped his father in the fields from childhood and followed in his footsteps after military service. Over the years, Bashmakov has introduced cutting-edge technologies, including satellite navigation, autopilot-equipped machinery, and digital field mapping.
The results have been remarkable: his potato yield is nearly twice as high as that of most of his peers. Governor Seredyuk noted that strong farming enterprises are the foundation of food security and healthy nutrition for the residents of Kuzbass. Bashmakov’s success story demonstrates how combining traditional farming values with modern digital tools can produce exceptional outcomes in agriculture.
