In January 2021, the Dutch potato industry processed 312,200 tons of potatoes. This is almost 10,000 tons more than in January 2020 when 302,600 tons were processed.
In the period from February 2020 to January 2021, 3,401,000 tons of potatoes were processed. In the same period 2019-2020 this was 3,858,200 tons. This 3,401,000 tons is the lowest processing in the past ten years. In 2017/2018, most potatoes were processed with 4,007,800 tonnes. This year we are just below the level of 2011/2012 when 3,466,900 tons of potatoes were processed. This is evident from the monthly overview of the Dutch Potato Organization (NAO).
Recovery
In January 2021, the Dutch potato processing industry processed 312,200 tons of potatoes. This is almost 10,000 tons more than in January 2020 when 302,600 tons were processed. Production seems to be slowly recovering. But a swallow doesn’t make spring yet. The real recovery may only continue after the corona measures (internationally) are relaxed in such a way that the catering industry can open and, moreover, events take place again.
