Data recently released by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) shows that in June 2021, the prices for table potatoes have dropped by more than a half compared to the same period in 2020.
“For table potatoes, prices have been falling compared to the same month of the previous year since September 2019. In June 2021 they were 56.8% lower than in the previous year (May 2021: 53.2% compared to May 2020). In June 2021, there was an extensive supply here due to the higher harvest volume compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, prices rose slightly by 2.2% compared to the previous month due to the new harvest,” as stated in a German Federal Statistical Office’s press release.
In 2021, the approximate price range for Germany Potatoes is between USD0.39 and USD0.37 per kilogram or between USD0.18 and USD0.17 per pound(lb).
The price in Euro is EUR0.33 per kg. The average price for a tonne is USD393.91 in Leipzig and Berlin.
Germany’s import price for potatoes in 2019 was USD0.77 per kilogram.
With 21.2% of the European Union’s (EU-27) total potato harvest in 2020 (or 11.7m tonnes), Germany is officially the largest producer.
