Prices for food potatoes are expected to rise in the Republic of Bashkortostan

During the summer, the conditions for cultivating crops in the republic were not always favorable. However, the authorities believe that the weather will not be able to seriously affect the size and quality of the potato harvest. At the same time, there are many farmers who expect negative consequences at the end of the season.
Today, young tubers of local production are already being sold in the capital of the republic. Externally, they are flawless, but they are spoiled from the inside. According to potato growers, such vegetables will not be stored even until winter.
In the region, there are serious fears that due to the shortage of their own potatoes, the market will be replenished with imported agricultural products, the prices of which will skyrocket. But farmers are unlikely to benefit from this, since the lion’s share of profits traditionally goes to resellers.
The change in the pricing situation also confirms the fact that in August 2024, for the first time in many years, the cost of tubers in the retail trade did not decrease after the start of the new harvest.
