Potato growers in the south of Russia suffered the greatest damage from frosts

Potato plantings in Russia were least affected by the May frosts. The low temperatures mainly affected the seedlings of crops in the south of Russia, where sowing begins in April.
Farmers from most regions of the country planted potatoes in early May. The seed tubers successfully withstood the temporary cooling in the land bed. And the damage to such farms turned out to be insignificant.
