Fifty Shades of Potato: More than fifty varieties of branded crops were presented at Bryansk Field Day 2022
After two years of online mode and the mandatory wearing of masks outdoors in the field, the Bryansk Field Day-2022 was held at the Bryansk State Agrarian University in Kokino in a traditional format – with guests, excursions, demonstrations of agricultural achievements and the obligatory emphasizing of the region’s leading positions in ensuring food security. If we sum up all the reports of officials, then Bryansk farmers ™ have long ago outdone the Kuban, Altai and the entire Black Earth region in terms of grain, and Belarus (all) in terms of potatoes, and the food security of Russia rests only on the Bryansk farmers.

Officially, the event held annually in Kokino is called the Interregional Agro-Industrial Exhibition-Demonstration. The total sown area on the demonstration plots was 80 hectares, on which 47 varieties of winter crops were sown in the autumn period: winter wheat, rye, triticale and winter rapeseed, and spring crops were sown in the spring.

As a result, the guests were shown more than 260 plots of varieties and hybrids of the main crops cultivated in the region. Only the branded regional agricultural crop, on the cultivation of which the acting governor Alexander Bogomaz defended his dissertation – 53 varieties of potatoes were presented.

From the rest:
• grain crops — 71 varieties;
• leguminous crops — 32 varieties;
• corn — 30 varieties and hybrids;
• sunflower — 11 hybrids;
• winter rape — 17 varieties and hybrids;
• spring rape — 15 varieties and hybrids;
• vegetable crops (carrots, beets) — 15 varieties of hybrids;
• sugar beet – 2 hybrids;
• fiber flax – 3 grades.

Plus, in addition to an extensive exhibition of agricultural machinery and equipment, where, among others, the products of JSC “Petersburg Tractor Plant”, JSC “Bryanskselmash” and LLC “Trading Center” were presented, the work of modern agricultural machinery, powerful tractors and combines was demonstrated at a specially prepared site equipped with various equipment: plowing, disking, cultivation, spraying, grain harvesting, forage harvesting, mulching.
