This proposal was made by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Armands Krause before the meeting of the EU Council on Agriculture and Fisheries in Brussels. According to the official, the Latvian authorities are seeking to expand this list in the future, having secured the support of a number of EU states.
In recent months, the Europeans have been vying to tighten the conditions for the supply of Russian and Belarusian agricultural products to their domestic market. But such ideas do not receive full support from all EU representatives. Therefore, the heads of relevant departments continue to discuss new restrictive measures on imports of goods from Russia and Belarus.
