In the Tver region on Saturday, May 28, on the territory of the Konakovo district, on the field near the village of Vysokovo, the Potatofest festival will take place. 10 hectares of land for planting potatoes will be provided to farmers by Agropromkomplektatsiya Dmitrova Gora.

The organizer of the event is Rosselkhozbank. On May 20, he began accepting applications for participation in the festival. It is assumed that more than a hundred people will be able to join it: residents of the region, guests from the Moscow region and Moscow. Participants will have the opportunity to plant their own potato tubers or seedlings of other crops, as well as use planting material from the Russian Agricultural Bank – these are highly productive domestic breeding varieties.
Farmers from the Moscow region and teachers from the Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy will act as assistants and advisers. It is possible that they will touch upon an urgent problem: how to help plants survive a serious cold snap at the end of May (in some cities of Russia, at the end of the last spring month, it even snowed). Under the guidance of experienced specialists, enthusiasts will be able to grow up to about 150 tons of potatoes.
Rosselkhozbank allocates one hundred land plots of ten acres each for free rent throughout the season. The application is made out on the Potatofest website. For the festival, participants are recommended to gather a whole team for the site, because it is unlikely that one person will be able to cope with ten acres of land. In the summer you can come here and take care of the field. In the fall is the harvest.
The festival itself, which will be held this Saturday, will not be limited to one planting of potatoes. It will become a real holiday. Farmers will arrive at 11:00. From 12:00 to 13:00 experts will give lectures on potatoes. Competitions will also be organized at this time. After that, the festival will open in a solemn atmosphere. Potato planting will take almost four hours: from 13:20 to 15:00, from 15:30 to 18:00. All guests are promised a festive atmosphere: there will be music and delicious food at the event.
