Europatat and the EU agri-food Promotion Policy For many years now, Europatat has been involved in the EU’s policy for the promotion of agri-food products. We regularly attend and contribute to the debates of the Civil Dialogue Group on Quality and Promotion, whose last meeting was organised on 9 March. Moreover, we have recently replied to the consultations related to the revision of this policy and we have sent input to the European Commission for its 2022 Annual Work Programme. We are calling on the Commission to include potatoes in the list of eligible products for programmes aiming at increasing the consumption of fruit and vegetables; to merge the budget for sustainability and organic and to further simplify next year’s budgetary priorities. You can read our position letter here. In the same line, we have co-signed a letter addressed to Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski in which ten EU associations ask for a balanced and proportionate allocation of the budget for organic and Commission’s own initiatives, and an overall substantial budget for this policy in 2022.
