The Churapchinsky district of Yakutia will begin using agricultural drones this year to increase the productivity of crops, announced regional head Aysen Nikolaev during a live broadcast on April 27. With support from the company Sakha Drone, several specialized agri-drones have already been purchased. “The experience of other regions shows excellent results. I am confident that we will succeed in Churapchinsky Ulus as well. We will then scale up further,” Nikolaev said. Yakutia is actively expanding the use of unmanned aerial vehicles across multiple sectors — in addition to agriculture, drones will be deployed for monitoring forest fire situations, following instructions from the regional government.
Yakutia already has successful experience using drones for logistics and healthcare. In April, the Khangalassky district began delivering biomaterials from medical outpatient clinics and feldsher-obstetric stations to the central district hospital using UAVs. Drones are also used to transport goods across the Lena River. The introduction of agri-drones in agriculture represents the next step in the region’s adoption of unmanned technologies. If trials in Churapchinsky district prove successful, the experience will be extended to other uluses (districts) of Yakutia.
