Agriculture outside politics
Agriculture is the oldest and most peaceful industry on earth. People engaged in this field provide food for the entire population of the planet. Agricultural business has always been among the risky ones (no other one depends to such an extent on weather conditions), but this year it is not natural disasters that pose a big threat to it, but human actions.
Every day we read in the news that another large European or American supplier of agricultural machinery, plant protection products or seeds is leaving Russia. Ties that have been developed for decades are being torn. Of course, this hurts Russian farmers, but global concerns are also suffering huge losses.
Are all large companies really willing to sacrifice their money for someone’s political decisions? Of course not. That is why, some time after another loud statement about the termination of all contracts, our editorial office receives photos confirming that in reality deliveries are continuing. We will not publish these pictures because we have no desire to incite conflicts.
But we invite business representatives to think about what consequences the withdrawal of their companies from the Russian market will lead to? Perhaps they will just free up a niche for competitors?
We are sure that agriculture (as well as medicine, and any other life-supporting industries) should always remain out of politics, and we hope that the situation will return to a reasonable course in the very near future. Everyone can contribute to this process if they take a rational and balanced approach to decision-making.
