Over the past week, the average price of white cabbage in the country decreased by 3.6%. However, there has been a slight increase in the cost of carrots, potatoes and onions.
To prevent price spikes in the off-season, the Government of Kazakhstan has arranged direct contracts with vegetable suppliers from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Agricultural products will be supplied at favorable prices, without intermediaries. As of today, contracts have been signed for the import of 4 thousand tons of vegetables, including 2.06 thousand tons of potatoes and 1.94 thousand tons of onions.
In order to provide the population of all regions with food, the Prime Minister instructed akimats to purchase at least 18.6 thousand tons of potatoes, 7.2 thousand tons of carrots and 5 thousand tons of onions.
