The Potato System previously wrote on plans for the construction of a research and production agrotechnopark.
Its creation in Chuvashia will increase potato production by 2,5 times. It is also planned to process up to 30% of the produced volume, the press service of the administration of the head of the republic reports.
The project to create an agrobiotechnopark in Chuvashia was supported by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko. She signed the corresponding order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Ministry of Finance of Russia and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia following the meeting with the head of the republic Oleg Nikolayev on April 4.ADVERTISING
“Due to the creation of a research and production agrotechnopark for intensive production and deep processing of vegetables and potatoes, it is planned to increase the production of potatoes by 2,5 times and process up to 30% of the produced volume,” the press service noted.
In Chuvashia, for many years, work has been carried out on the selection of potato varieties, its production and storage, but at the same time, an insignificant share of processing remains. According to the administration of the head of the republic, with the production of 7-8 million tons of marketable potatoes in Russia, the share of imports is 600 thousand tons, or about 10%. Dependence in seed potatoes is currently 70%, in vegetable crops – 100%.
“Our task is to create a single platform for the agrotechnopark, which would allow us to combine achievements in the field of potato production and processing, create competencies for their further localization in other regions. For this, our republic has the necessary scientific and resource base – a potato breeding and seed center operates, ”the press service quoted the head of the republic, Oleg Nikolaev, as saying.
Work on the creation of an agrobiotechnopark is included in the frontal development strategy of the republic “Intersectoral system “Agroproryv”. The project, in addition to creating a research and production agrotechnopark for the intensive production and deep processing of vegetables and potatoes, involves the creation of an industrial and technological infrastructure for the intensification of hop growing, as well as an advanced scientific and laboratory complex with laboratories for genomic selection.
According to the head of Chuvashia, the Agroproryv Intersectoral System project is aimed at overcoming the global challenges facing the agro-industrial complex, negative phenomena in the difficult conditions of external sanctions pressure and ensuring food security and competitiveness of the country. It will also create conditions for import substitution of seed and planting material.
