In a move that reflects the growing ambition of Scottish snack brand Taylors Snacks, the company has secured its first listing in ALDI stores across the UK. This expansion marks a milestone for Taylors, previously known as Mackie’s Crisps, as it looks to introduce its award-winning snacks to a broader audience.
The company, based on the fourth-generation Taylor family farm in Errol, Perthshire, has been a staple in Scottish households for years. Since rebranding to Taylors Snacks in 2023, the company has seen significant success across Scotland, driven by high retail and customer demand. Now, with its partnership with ALDI, Taylors is set to expand that success throughout the UK.
A Partnership Over a Decade in the Making
Taylors Snacks and ALDI have enjoyed a strong relationship for over 14 years, beginning when the brand was still trading as Mackie’s Crisps. This long-standing partnership laid the foundation for Taylors’ first foray into the UK-wide supermarket scene. ALDI will now stock four of the brand’s most popular flavors, including Straight Cut Mature Cheddar & Onion and Pickled Onion, as well as Lightly Sea Salted and Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar Ridge Cut flavors. Retailing at £1.25 per pack, these crisps offer an affordable yet premium snack option for ALDI shoppers.
The initial contract will see nearly 220,000 packets of Taylors crisps distributed to ALDI stores across the country, with the potential for further listings as the brand gains traction outside of Scotland.
A Diverse and Award-Winning Product Range
Taylors Snacks has built a reputation for its thick-cut, high-quality potato chips, made using potatoes grown on the family farm in Perthshire. The brand’s core range includes a variety of popular flavors such as Sea Salt, Mature Cheddar & Onion, and Flame Grilled Aberdeen Angus. Taylors has also pushed the envelope with unique flavors that reflect Scottish culinary heritage, including Haggis & Cracked Black Pepper and Chilli Kick.
In the Ridge Cut range, Taylors has recently introduced bold new flavors like Hot Buffalo Wings and Jalapeño & Mature Cheddar, adding to their established lineup of Lightly Sea Salted, Sea Salt & Vinegar, and Thai Sweet Chilli.
A Boost for Scottish Agriculture and Employment
The success of Taylors Snacks is not only a win for the brand but also a boost for the local Scottish economy. As the company continues to grow, it is committed to remaining rooted in its Perthshire base. With 110 employees currently on board, the expansion into the UK market will likely lead to further job creation and investment in the region.
James Taylor, Managing Director of Taylors Snacks, expressed his excitement about the brand’s growth, stating, “We are confident that Taylors will be as well received around the rest of the UK as our snacks have been in Scotland, and look forward to bringing our unique, thick-cut crisps to even more people around the country.”
A Promising Future for Taylors Snacks
The entry of Taylors Snacks into ALDI stores across the UK marks a significant step in the brand’s evolution from a Scottish favorite to a nationwide contender in the competitive snack industry. With a unique product offering and a strong partnership with ALDI, Taylors is well-positioned for continued growth. As the brand expands its reach, it will bring a taste of Scotland to more households, while supporting local agriculture and employment in Perthshire.
