Syngenta innovative solution to enhance potato crop protection with integrated agronomy forecasts

Syngenta introduces an innovative solution to safeguard potato crops through in-app agronomy forecasts. By merging Syngenta’s decision support agronomy advice tools, BlightCast, and Quantis Heat Stress Alert, into the user-friendly digital platform, myField, potato growers can now access comprehensive guidance conveniently.

The consolidation of these tools within the myField app enables growers and agronomists to receive localized alerts regarding potato agronomy issues on a field-specific basis across a broad geographical area. This integrated platform also offers personalized weather and agronomy data, streamlining decision-making processes for users.

Replacing the previous web-based versions, myField simplifies access to Syngenta’s BlightCast and Quantis Heat Stress Alert, providing valuable insights and notifications to users. BlightCast offers advanced warnings of disease conditions up to two weeks in advance, aiding growers in optimizing blight protection strategies. On the other hand, Quantis Heat Stress Alert notifies users of impending temperature events that could impact potato crops, allowing for timely preventive measures.

Through a single registration on myField, users can map individual fields within the app, ensuring precise information delivery. The app’s Potato Tools feature allows users to monitor their fields’ status for BlightCast and Quantis Heat Stress, offering forecasts for up to 15 days ahead. The app utilizes visual color coding to indicate risk levels (low – green, medium – amber, high – red) and provides email notifications when preset thresholds are met, facilitating prompt action against potential threats.

Moreover, myField empowers users to customize BlightCast alerts based on their specific thresholds, enhancing sensitivity and aligning with individual blight management strategies. Despite this customization, the system maintains red alert warnings based on industry-standard Hutton Criteria conditions to ensure comprehensive risk assessment.

Syngenta emphasizes the importance of utilizing both BlightCast and Quantis Heat Stress Alert alongside Syngenta Spray Assist to optimize timing and application techniques according to prevailing weather conditions. This integrated approach enables growers to make informed decisions, enhance crop protection, and maximize yield potential effectively.
