The first annual figures of the Syngenta Group, which was established in June 2020, come to a turnover of 23.1 billion US dollars, converted to approximately 19.4 billion euros. Profit (EBITDA) increased by 3 percent to 4 billion US dollar (3.36 billion Euro)
This is a comparison based on the results of the combined companies in 2020 with the results of these companies added together in 2019. The turnover of the current Syngenta Group is comparable to the Dutch beer brand Heineken. The largest multinationals worldwide account for a multiple of hundreds of billions of US dollars in annual turnover.
Investment in biostimulants
The company is a combination of ChemChina, Adama (of Israeli origin), Sinochem and Syngenta. Syngenta has been Chinese-owned since 2015. In October 2020, the Syngenta Crop Protection division took over the Italian biostimulant company Valagro.
The first results of the newly formed Syngenta Group, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, were hampered by exchange rate fluctuations. The US dollar in particular changed strongly in value in 2020.
