Gorodishche held a meeting on the sowing campaign of open ground vegetables in the city of Orenburg. The event was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture, acting. Deputy Head of Orenburg for Economic Affairs Evgeny Binkovsky, Head of the Department of Agriculture of the city of Orenburg, representative of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Orenburgmeliovodkhoz Administration”, heads of vegetable farms.
“Today, vegetable growing is one of the most rapidly developing branches of agriculture,” said Sergey Balykin, opening the meeting. The consumption of fresh vegetables is increasing every day.
The first vice-governor gave figures: the area occupied by potatoes and vegetables in open ground in all categories of farms will be 9.5 and 6.6 thousand hectares, respectively.
“However, this is not enough today. Therefore, our task is to develop vegetable growing in the region, including through irrigation, – said the first vice-governor.
Grigory Zakharov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture, spoke about the current state of affairs in the vegetable growing industry in the Orenburg region.
He explained that abnormal weather conditions, often repeated droughts in our region indicate the need to develop irrigation in the Orenburg region. Vegetable and potato production in the region should be developed on irrigation.
The governor of the Orenburg region has set the task for the Ministry of Agriculture and municipalities to increase the area for planting borscht vegetables (cabbage, onions, carrots, beets), as well as potatoes to ensure food security in the Orenburg region.
The key task in the region is to increase the volume of production of competitive, environmentally friendly vegetable products that are in demand on the domestic market.
Growing vegetables and potatoes in the Orenburg region is only half of the task. Products must also be stored in the winter.
On the territory of the Orenburg region, according to data from farms, there are 28 vegetable and potato storage facilities with a total storage capacity of 30,870 tons of products.
Agricultural producers, Russian organizations operating in the Orenburg region are provided with a subsidy for the creation and (or) modernization of storage facilities owned by agricultural producers and organizations. The amount of the subsidy is 20 percent of the actual cost of the object (but not higher than the marginal cost of the object).
In 2022, there are two types of state support for the development of open field vegetable growing and potato growing:
– unrelated support in the field of crop production. For this type of support, only seeds of vegetable crops and potatoes, zoned for the 9th region of admission, are subsidized;
– development of elite seed production. In this type of support, subsidies are provided for seeds zoned from 5 to 9 access regions produced in the Russian Federation.
Aleksey Seksyaev, Head of the Water Use and Cadastre Department of the Orenburgmeliovodkhoz Administration, reported on the preparation of the Gorodishche irrigation system for the 2022 irrigation season.
And about. Deputy Head of Orenburg for Economic Affairs Yevgeny Binkovsky explained that there are 35 enterprises and peasant farms and more than 200 private household plots in the city. The city almost completely covers the need for vegetables on its own, but there are difficulties for potatoes. He also said that, in addition to federal and regional support for agricultural producers, vegetable growers, there is also support at the city level. And many entrepreneurs use it. So, last year, about 2 million rubles of support were paid – mainly compensation for the purchase of agricultural machinery.
Alexander Gadushkin, head of the department of agriculture in Orenburg, informed that the farms of the regional center annually produce more than 50 thousand tons of vegetables. This represents about 60% of vegetable production in the entire region. The main producers of vegetable products are the Soyuz and Mechta cooperatives, the peasant farm Sukova P.N., Mikhailova S.N., Bolotnikova V.N., Matsieva A.N., Popova V.E., Obraztsova S.N. . Large areas are available in private farms. This is annually up to 500 hectares of open ground vegetables and up to 150 hectares of potatoes. 13-14 thousand tons of vegetables and up to 3 thousand tons of potatoes are grown annually in private household plots. Also, vegetables are grown in the garden plots of SNT.
As of May 6, Orenburg farms have planted 50 hectares of cabbage, 10 hectares of zucchini, 4 hectares of potatoes, 3 hectares of carrots, 222 hectares of onions, 1 ha of other vegetables, 290 hectares in total.

During the discussion, the leaders of vegetable farms expressed their readiness to increase the sown area, at the same time, the issue of the need to increase state support and specifically subsidize seeds of foreign production was discussed.
Summing up the results of the meeting, Sergey Balykin once again emphasized that food security is a priority for the work of the agro-industrial complex of the region. Potatoes and vegetables play a significant role in this work. Creating conditions for expanding irrigated areas for potatoes and vegetables is one of the priorities of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.
