Last year, the cumulative worth of all potatoes sold for Idaho, Oregon, and Washington was seen at USD1.82bn, according to a USDA regular report from September 29, 2021.
All tri-state potato sales decreased in 2020, the biggest decline being reported for Washington state. In this case, the value of potatoes sold last year stood at USD705m, a drop of 19% from 2019. The marketing year average price for fall potatoes was USD7.56 per cwt, down USD1.34 from the previous year.
Next in line stands the state of Oregon. This time, the value of potatoes sold in 2020 upheld at USD199m, in fact, a decrease of 7% from 2019. The potato price was USD8.00 per cwt, down USD1.24 from last year.
Finally, the value of Idaho’s 2020 potato crop sold was USD912m, down 5% from 2019. The marketing year average price for potatoes in Idaho was USD7.28 per cwt, down USD0.70 from last year.
Only Two out of Three US States Recorded Potato Production Uprise
In Oregon, potato production was seen at 27m cwt, up 7% from 2019. In Idaho, potato production for 2020 totaled 135m cwt, up 3% from 2019.
On the other hand, the tuber production in Washington was 99.7m cwt, down 5% from 2019. The combined production for the tri-states was 62% of US potato production, last year.
Processors in Idaho and Malheur County Oregon used a total of 90,755m cwt in 2020, up 4% from 2019.
Washington and Oregon, excluding Malheur County, processors used 89,406m cwt during 2020, down 6% from the previous year.
Usually, potatoes in the US are grown in nearly every state, although about half of the crop comes from Idaho, Washington, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Colorado, Oregon, Maine, Minnesota, California, and Michigan.
