Specialists of the company “August”, a leading domestic manufacturer of pesticides, became participants in the International Symposium on the use of adjuvants for agrochemicals (ISAA Symposium), which was held at the end of April in the French city of Bordeaux.
For the first time in the history of ISAA, representatives of a Russian company spoke at the symposium, making two reports: on the effectiveness of using various types of adjuvants with herbicides based on fenoxaprop-P-ethyl and on comparative tests of modern formulations of seed treaters.

ISAA is an international organization that brings together all manufacturers of surfactants (surfactants that reduce the surface tension of water and improve the spreadability of solutions), and also includes leading multinational companies using these substances in the production of pesticides and adjuvants.
On April 28, employees of the Department for the Development of Formulations of JSC Firm “August” remotely spoke at the international ISAA Symposium 2022, dedicated to the use of adjuvants in combination with chemical plant protection products. Adjuvants are complexes of substances that make it possible to change the biological activity of the pesticide and modify its physicochemical properties (for example, to make the adhesion and spreading of the working fluid over the leaf more efficient or to improve the penetration of the active components of the preparation into the plant).
As the head of the department Larisa Yelinevskaya notes, the company “August” has been regularly present at ISAA events since 2011 and is the only domestic pesticide manufacturer that participates in this international symposium. As part of the ISAA Symposium 2022, Russian specialists shared their experience of working with the international community for the first time.
“All the main theorists and practitioners of the global agricultural market are present at the symposium. Representatives of the largest manufacturers of chemical and biological plant protection products, as well as surfactants, report here about the new products that they have. In addition, ISAA members keep active between symposiums through remote presentations. As a member of the organization, I receive up-to-date information from all over the world. Despite the postponement of the event, originally scheduled for 2019, as well as the recent tense international situation, we received all the necessary approvals and approvals for our reports from the organizers and successfully performed at the ISAA Symposium 2022.”

The work of the symposium was organized in the format of sections, on the platforms of which one or another topic was discussed: for example, adjuvants and the concept of sustainable development, methods for modeling the drift of drugs during processing, methods for modeling the interaction of drugs with various surfaces and its resistance to sprinkling.
Within the framework of this section, the report of the head of the department for the development of solid and combined preparative forms of the company “August” Danil Dzardanov “Adhesive properties of drops of herbicidal emulsions of phenoxaprop-P-ethyl with various types of adjuvants” was announced.
The report was preceded by a large research work of the specialists of “Augusta” with the drug “Eraser Extra”. Part of the data of this work has already been published in the “Colloid Journal”, and the staff of “August” also shared the results of research on this topic at international events organized by VNIIF.
The ISAA Symposium 2022 provided the international community with practical information on the benefits of using herbicides in combination with oil adjuvants compared to ethyl alcohol based adjuvants.
The second report, prepared by Olga Ulybina, Head of the Liquid Formulas Development Department, was devoted to a comparison of various types of seed treatment formulations. The listeners were presented with the results of comparative physicochemical and biological tests of a protectant based on tebuconazole in microemulsion and suspension concentrate formulations.
“Our speakers were warmly welcomed and listened to attentively,” said Larisa Yelinevskaya. – Questions from interested participants addressed to our department were not only asked at the event itself, but also continue to be received electronically. So “August” can be congratulated on an important and successful debut within the ISAA.”
