Royal HZPC Group, one of the world’s leading seed potato producers and marketers, expects record sales volumes in the 2024/25 financial year, which could exceed 1 million tonnes for the first time.
According to Hans Huistre, CEO of Royal HZPC Group, despite a difficult start to the season, the 2024 harvest was significantly better than last year, which was a key growth driver.
“We expect the total volume that we sell or that our licensees sell to exceed the 1 million tonne mark, which will be a major milestone for the company,” he said.
With strong demand for varietal potatoes, Royal HZPC expects favorable prices in all key regions and an increase in total revenues to €500 million, a significant increase compared to 2023/24.
Record payments to farmers and high profitability
The company also forecasts historically high payments to seed potato producers, making the season particularly profitable for farmers. The company’s expected net profit should exceed €8 million, excluding the costs of the Connecting Growers program.
In addition to the success in production, the company has undergone important personnel changes.
John Thijssen officially took office as a member of the Supervisory Board on 21 November 2024 and attended his first meeting on 11 February 2025. Thijssen, who is the CEO of the Royal Barenbrug Group, has extensive international experience in the fields of agricultural technology and sustainability.
Michael Kester has stepped down as Chairman of the Supervisory Board after 9 years on the board and 4 years as Chairman. He has been replaced by Cor Biemond.
CEO Hans Huistra thanked Kester for his significant contribution to the company’s development and expressed confidence that the new management structure will ensure the company’s continued sustainable growth.
The Royal HZPC Group has high expectations for the future, as its activities directly impact global food security. Seed potatoes remain a key element in the global food supply chain, and the company’s strategy is focused on long-term development, innovation and sustainability in agriculture.
