Over the first half of this year, flour production at the country’s enterprises decreased by 35% – the head of state told how to correct the situation
It is necessary to look for alternative ways to import wheat into the country, said Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
Such an instruction was received from him at the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies and the Association of Grain Importers and Processors at a government meeting, the presidential press service reports.
Rahmon stressed that the necessary measures should be taken to regularly import wheat from abroad, as well as to find alternative ways to import it.
At the same time, he noted that, despite the fact that in the first half of 2022 the development of agricultural production reached 107.2%, the country’s resources are still not fully used.
World hunger without Ukrainian grain: reality or propaganda?
In this regard, Rahmon challenged the government to protect the country’s food security, as well as provide employment for the population, using every inch of land wisely.
In his opinion, this will make it possible to receive three or four crops a year, and increase the area under crops due to repeated plantings.
It is necessary to ensure the uninterrupted supply of the domestic market, arrange the export of fruits and vegetables and the construction of enterprises for the processing of agricultural products, as well as create opportunities for food stocks in each family for the autumn-winter period, Rahmon added.
