The volume of crop plantings in the country in 2024 decreased compared to the previous season. As a result, the volume of potatoes harvested from the fields decreased. However, according to experts, a shortage of this type of agricultural products should not be expected.
As explained in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, the level of self-sufficiency in potatoes is 110.8 percent. Preliminary calculations allow us to talk about the production of about 909 thousand tons of products in the organized sector.
A significant part of the grown tubers will be sold to other states. The Belarusian authorities estimated the export potential of the new crop at 300 thousand tons.
