Dear Colleague,

The International Potato Center (CIP), in consultation with national partners, has identified 59 market segments for potato and 32 for sweetpotato in the Global South. These segments now need to be characterized for impact opportunities. A first and crucial step is estimating three critical descriptors:

1) the area allocated to each segment in a given region,

2) the average farm yield, and

3) the average farmgate price.

CIP is looking for potato and sweetpotato experts willing to participate in a short survey. The survey will contribute to inform and refine the basic characterization of the market segments which have been identified for these crops. This will help design new varieties that better respond to the needs of both farmers and end-users.

Suitable experts include breeders, seed system specialists, market and value chain experts, agronomists, and practitioners with significant knowledge of the potato and/or sweetpotato sector in at least one of the main producing countries in the Global South.

We think you might be a suitable candidate to participate in this study and/or might be able to share it with other colleagues and experts with relevant knowledge and experience. Filling the survey will take between 10 and 40 minutes, depending on the number of countries for which the respondent is able to provide information. The survey is available in English, French, and Spanish.

To say thank you, a total of 20 participants will be randomly selected to receive a $100 gift card 🏆!
