Experienced Leader to Drive Growth and Mentor Talent at Leading UK Potato Supplier

Branston, one of the UK’s leading potato suppliers, has announced the appointment of Tanya Leonard as the new General Manager at its Lincoln site. This strategic appointment comes as part of Branston’s ambitious plans for growth and operational efficiency.

Tanya Leonard brings over 20 years of experience in the fresh produce industry, beginning her management career at the age of 17. Her journey in fresh produce started unexpectedly but soon turned into a passion that propelled her through various operational roles. Leonard’s extensive experience and commitment to continuous improvement make her a valuable addition to Branston’s leadership team.

In her new role, Leonard will focus on enhancing operational efficiency, maintaining Branston’s engineering functions, and spearheading future developments in technology. She is eager to apply her knowledge to strengthen the team at Branston and contribute to the company’s ongoing success, including supporting the expansion of Branston’s mash and protein production facilities.

Leonard is also a strong advocate for gender diversity in senior management positions within the fresh produce industry. She is dedicated to mentoring young talent and encouraging more women to pursue leadership roles. “Helping people grow within their roles is something I’m passionate about,” she said. “There is no ceiling for ambitious individuals, and I want to do all I can to help young people in the business progress.”

Her personal connection to the company is also notable, as Leonard’s daughter recently joined Branston as an HR administrator, further embedding their family’s commitment to the business.

Jim Windle, CEO of Branston, expressed his excitement about the new appointment: “Tanya brings a huge amount of experience in fresh produce and an infectious energy with her leadership style, both of which are going to be a real asset to our Lincoln team. We’re thrilled she has chosen to join the business and look forward to her bringing a fresh outlook on operations as we enter our next phase of growth and continuous improvement.”

Branston’s commitment to innovation and leadership development, exemplified by this appointment, demonstrates its focus on driving forward the UK’s fresh produce industry.
