As part of our “Potato Tour Across Russia”, we visited the farm of Pavel Anatolyevich Androsov in the Limansky District of Astrakhan Region. It was a truly special day: we learned not only about early potato cultivation, but also about the region’s unique multinational character, where various cultures and traditions coexist harmoniously.
The Androsov family has been engaged in agriculture for three generations. Pavel Anatolyevich shared openly the challenges farmers face in the extreme weather conditions typical of the region, and how they adapt their technologies to maintain productivity despite the harsh climate.
A highlight of the visit was the unexpected presence of winter wheat, a crop not commonly associated with Astrakhan. You’ll learn why it was chosen, how it fits into local crop rotation, and what opportunities it brings for the region.
Nearly an hour of in-depth interview offers a deep dive into the atmosphere of care for the land, dedication to agriculture, and regional development.
