Outside temperature good for quality starch potatoes
Potato starch group Avebe is satisfied at the end of the campaign with the quality of the starch potatoes supplied. The current outside temperature is favorable for storage.

he 2020/2021 campaign is progressing according to plan and is in its final phase. It is expected that Avebe will process the remaining stock of starch potatoes at the Gasselternijveen location until mid-May.

The average tare percentage is comparable to last year (4.3 to 4.5 percent). The starch content is on average over 19 percent. For the growers, the yields of starch potatoes differ per area due to the strongly varying growing conditions.

Vegetable proteins

Avebe started potato processing on 17 August 2020 at the Dutch locations Gasselternijveen and Ter Apelkanaal and the German locations Lüchow and Dallmin. The campaign is expected to end in Gasselternijveen at the beginning of May.

Due to the growing demand for vegetable proteins for food, every processing campaign ends in Gasselternijveen. Since 2007, Avebe has been extracting the protein from the potatoes for food applications at this location, including meat substitutes and dairy-free products.
