More than 683 million rubles will be additionally allocated to subsidize the rail transportation of agricultural products at preferential rates. This order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Additional funding will allow farmers to reduce transportation costs and increase supplies of grains and oilseeds, vegetables and fish products, as well as mineral fertilizers to Russian regions. In total, the volume of such transportation will be increased by almost half a million tons.
State support for rail transportation of agricultural products began in 2019. We are talking about subsidies to carriers to compensate for losses arising from the establishment of preferential tariffs for the transportation of such products. Transportation at a reduced rate provides for all types of shipment of goods: both in wagons and in containers.
In 2022, 3.2 billion rubles have already been allocated from the federal budget for these purposes. This is 75% of the previously budgeted appropriations.
“We expect that additional funding will not only help support agricultural producers themselves, but will also help smooth out fluctuations in food prices, strengthen the stability of food supplies to Russian stores,” Mikhail Mishustin said at a government meeting on July 14.
