Miratorg, one of Russia’s largest agricultural holdings, plans to launch its Grand Fries deep potato processing plant in the Orel Region by the end of 2026, according to Governor Andrey Klychkov following a meeting with Miratorg President Viktor Linnik on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026. The project is being implemented within the Orel Special Economic Zone, where construction began in 2023 and is now nearing completion. The enterprise is already assembling a team of specialists. The total investment is estimated at nearly 20 billion rubles. The plant will produce not only French fries but also potato flakes, wedges, and hash browns using specially selected potato varieties grown by Miratorg itself.
With an annual production capacity of up to 135,000 tons, the facility is expected to reduce the Russian market’s dependence on imports and ensure stable potato product supplies to the Vkusno – i Tochka fast-food chain (formerly McDonald’s Russia) as well as other HoReCa (Hotel/Restaurant/Café) segment enterprises. Governor Klychkov emphasized that the regional government will continue to provide comprehensive support for the project, calling it one of the key initiatives for the development of the agricultural sector in the Orel Region.
