In a groundbreaking visit, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Patrushev, alongside regional leaders, recently toured the “Glory to Potatoes” Agricultural Firm. One highlight of the visit was the exploration of the firm’s laboratory, where microclonal propagation is employed to cultivate potato seeds in test tubes.

Ramil Idiatullin, the firm’s executive director, emphasized the myriad benefits of microclonal propagation. This method ensures the exclusion of infections in potatoes, as plants are grown in sterile conditions. Additionally, it maximizes the yield of healthy plants, promising an abundant harvest. With a laboratory capacity of up to 100,000 microplants annually, the potential for sustainable potato farming is immense.

Currently, the firm breeds 10 potato varieties, all in high demand among consumers. These varieties not only meet consumer preferences but also prioritize health and quality. Reflecting on the achievements of 2023, the firm outlined ambitious plans for the future, cementing its commitment to innovation and excellence in potato cultivation.

Conclusion: The visit of Minister Dmitry Nikolaevich Patrushev to “Glory to Potatoes” Agricultural Firm underscores the pivotal role of innovation in transforming the agricultural landscape. With microclonal propagation leading the way, the future of potato farming shines bright, promising bountiful harvests and sustainable practices.
