McCain Foods will launch new Regen Fries in the Metaverse as part of the #SaveOurSoil campaign. The potatoes used to make Regen Fries were grown using regenerative farming techniques, which boost biodiversity, soil health, and on-farm climate change resilience.
McCain has pledged to rethink potato farming practices that are good for the environment and the communities in which it works. This is a component of McCain’s global commitment to adopt regenerative farming methods on all of its potato-growing acres worldwide by the end of 2030.
“We believe regenerative agriculture is vital in trying to make the global food system more sustainable. If we don’t change the way we farm, the implications are bleak – and we cannot allow that to happen. Working together with farmers and consumers, we want to enable and speed the transition to regenerative farming practices,” Christine Kalvenes, McCain’s Global Head of Innovation and Marketing said.
McCain is aware of the educational potential that younger consumers hold as we look to the future of farming and agricultural methods. The purpose of #SaveOurSoil is to inform and captivate young people by offering Regen Fries in locations where they already like hanging out. McCain is giving younger audiences a platform to better comprehend the difficulties currently facing the farming community and the advantages of regenerative farming through exciting partnerships with one of the biggest metaverse platforms, Roblox, and the first NFT-themed restaurant, Bored & Hungry.
McCain x Roblox: Farms of the Future
McCain’s free-to-play Farms of the Future game is currently accessible worldwide and is incorporated into Livetopia, one of the top ten Roblox games. It enables players to digitally cultivate potatoes using regenerative farming techniques that enhance and repair soil health. Players receive rewards for employing regenerative techniques including cover crop cultivation, rotational grazing of livestock, and biodiversity promotion.
McCain x Bored & Hungry: Regen Fries Pop-Up
McCain Regen Fries will be available for a brief period starting on October 28 and continuing until November 18 at Bored & Hungry’s flagship location in Long Beach, California, the first eatery to connect the Metaverse with experience. McCain Regen Fries + Bored & Hungry will open pop-up restaurants serving Regen Fries in London (November 3–4) and Toronto (November 5–6) to expand this delicious cooperation into new international markets (November 16th-18th).
“It is important we reach out to younger consumers with the right message, in the right location, at the right moments of receptivity – meeting them where they are. This will be important in raising awareness for building a more sustainable food system through regenerative agriculture. Regen Fries, the Farms of the Future game, and the Bored & Hungry collaboration are an experiential, fun, and effective way to begin this discussion. As we march toward 2030, #SaveOurSoil is an important effort to help build a community and raise awareness for why we’re so committed to a future of sustainable farming, globally,” Kalvenes concluded.
As the leading supplier of processed potato products in the world and a pioneer in industry innovation, McCain’s entry into the Metaverse marks the company’s next chapter. By helping to reimagine the future of agriculture, McCain ensures that it is driving climate action.
