Industry experts assure that to meet the food needs of the world’s rapidly growing population, it is necessary to optimize crop production and increase yields. One tool to help achieve this goal could be the autonomous robot Mineral, developed by Company X (formerly Google X Lab).
The Mineral development team has previously stated that it is already working with breeders and farmers in Argentina, Canada, South Africa and the US. Now innovative agricultural machines have reached the farmers of Malaysia. This was reported by the portal freshplaza.com.
Recall that the Mineral robot is a “buggy-type installation”, which is able to autonomously move around the fields and perform tedious and repetitive technological operations, including control and monitoring, without a pause.
Mineral can monitor the condition of crops, count the quantity and determine the quality of garden strawberries and other berries, lettuce, and peas from germination to harvest. It is important to understand that the development allows not only to analyze the crop, but also helps to predict it. The robot can also detect the presence of pests, diseases or other factors that have a negative impact on crops, so that the farmer can quickly take effective measures to prevent the problem from spreading further.
In addition, Mineral is able to perform another important task – to optimize the intake of water and nutrients.
