The selection was carried out on plantings of the first field generation of potatoes of the Krasa Meshchery, Argo, Bagira and other varieties in the field nurseries of OOO SKHP Dary Malinovki. Specialists from the Russian Agricultural Center took part in the selection. During the selection, a careful visual assessment of each presented plant was carried out: plants were selected that were most typical for the variety and absolutely healthy in appearance. From the selected tubers, tissues from apical meristems located in the apical part of vegetative organs will be taken in laboratory conditions. The original potato material is grown in laboratory conditions in test tubes from meristematic tissues using in vitro technology. The use of this technology allows obtaining genetically uniform planting material free of viral, fungal and bacterial pathogens. Only the originators of the variety have the right to grow such potatoes.
Obtaining healthy seed material is an integral stage in potato seed production and an important factor affecting the productivity and yield of the variety. Currently, potato recovery from viral diseases using meristem culture is used in all potato-producing countries of the world. High-quality seeds, grown in specialized seed farms, provide a yield increase of up to 25-50% compared to degenerate seeds that have not been updated for many years.
OOO “SKhP “Dary Malinovki” is the largest seed farm for the production of seed potatoes in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The farm is engaged in primary seed production of potatoes of more than twenty varieties, starting from the production of in vitro microplants and provides agricultural producers of the Territory and other regions with high-quality planting material. Specialists of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Rosselkhoztsentr” in Krasnoyarsk Krai annually participate in the procedure of selecting basic clones of seed potato varieties for further introduction of plants into in vitro culture.
