Idaho’s potato crop sold for USD1.04bn in total in 2021, a 14% increase over 2020. Idaho’s average price for potatoes for the marketing year increased by USD1.18 to USD8.46 per cwt. 132 million cwt (6,7 million tons) of potatoes were produced in Idaho in 2021, which is a 2% decrease from 2020.
A total of 830,700 cwt (42,200 tons) were utilized by processors in Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon in 2021, an 8% decrease from the previous year.
The value of the 2021 potato crop sold in Oregon increased by 10% over the previous year to USD218m. The price of potatoes was USD9.02 per cwt, an increase of USD0.102 over the previous year. Production in Oregon was 26.3 million cwt (1.33 million tons), a 3% decrease from 2020.
The value of Washington’s 2021 potato crop sold was USD666 million, a 5% decrease over 2020. Fall potato prices averaged USD7.75 per cwt throughout the marketing year, an increase of USD0.19 over the prior period. In Washington, production fell by 8% from 2020 to 91.9 million cwt (4.66 million tons). In 2021, the three states’ combined production accounted for 61% of the nation’s potato output.
Processors in Washington and Oregon, excluding Malheur County, utilized 948,820 cwt (48,202 tons) in 2021, an increase of 6% from the year before.
