Exploring Thriving Potato Varieties in Senegal’s Niayes Region

In a recent update from HZPC North West Africa, a promising picture emerges from the fields of Senegal, particularly in the Niayes region near Kayar. Despite the challenging heat of the season, HZPC varieties are flourishing, showcasing their resilience and adaptability.

One standout newcomer making its debut is Panamera, boasting robust foliage resistant to mildew and boasting excellent storage capabilities. Its vigorous growth signals a promising future in the region.

Meanwhile, Sagitta has already established itself as a staple variety known for its productivity, culinary qualities, and impressive shelf life. Joining the ranks are Rashida and Colomba, rapidly tuberizing varieties that further enrich HZPC’s offerings in Senegal.

The diverse range of varieties offered by HZPC and its partners provides local farmers with a wealth of options, ensuring abundant and secure harvests. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to #Nourrirlafrique (#FeedingAfrica) and the agricultural development of the Kayar region.

With partnerships like ANCAR and the involvement of GORA DIENE, HZPC continues to make strides in enhancing food security and promoting sustainable agriculture practices in Senegal.
