In a recent broadcast on “Open Studio” by Radio Russia Tomsk, Olga Litvinchuk unveiled the potential arrival of two novel potato varieties, “Narymskaya Nochka” and “Kudesnik,” awaiting approval from the State Commission for Selection Achievements of the Russian Federation. With distinct characteristics such as purple flesh and vibrant red skin, these varieties promise not only visual appeal but also exceptional taste.
The former Narym Breeding Station, now a branch of the Siberian Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and Peat, celebrated its 90th anniversary last year. Currently, the station boasts the cultivation of seed potato tubers across eight varieties, with more in development.
Beyond potatoes, ongoing breeding efforts encompass a diverse range of crops, signaling a future of innovation and abundance in agricultural production.
