On October 29, CNH announced it invested in Zasso Group AG, which is working to develop weed control systems that use electrical power rather than chemicals.
Zasso Group was founded in 2016, is based in Switzerland but has offices in Brazil, Germany and France as well. This investment by CNH is for a minority stake in the company, and it will expand the portfolio of CNH’s AGXTEND startup accelerator. With this partnership, the AGXTEND dealers have exclusive distribution of Zasso’s technology.
The company’s technology is called Electroherb, which targets and kills weeds using an electrical current. The company says it’s able to use high-powered electrical discharges to destroy targeted plants to the root immediately. This provides for more powerful weed control than other microwave, infrared or vapor systems. And it does not heat or damage soils. Zasso has developed Electroherb solutions for the agriculture and urban markets.
Zasso’s XPower electronic weed control was awarded with a bronze innovation award at the 2019 SIMA agricultural trade show in France. This product focuses on weeding for potato fields.
