In some potato growing countries, this potato pathogen is widespread, but on the eradication of the causative agent of ring rot of potatoes has been reported in some countries in line the EPPO Global Database (https://gd.eppo.int/taxon/CORBSE/distribution). The most effective measure to control this potato pathogen is the use pest free potatoes from pest free places of production and pest free areas/areas of low pest prevalence in line with the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) due to the most important pathway of the entry for this potato pathogen is seed potatoes from countries in which the potato pathogen is present.
It is important to mention that a lack of robust control of pests (pests and plant pathogens) in the countries gains potential reputational risks for exporters as trusted partners in the trade of plants and plant products.
