In a significant step towards strengthening economic relations between Pakistan and China, prominent companies from both nations, Henan Ruzhou Ideal Starch and KASB Corporation of Pakistan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a cutting-edge potato starch plant in Pakistan.
This partnership is strategically aimed at utilizing the abundant potato resources in the region to meet the increasing demand for this versatile agricultural product, as stated by Ghulam Qadir, Trade and Investment Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan in China.
The MoU is set to combine the expertise and advanced technology of the Chinese partners to ensure efficient and sustainable production of high-quality potato starch. This initiative is anticipated not only to strengthen Pakistan’s agricultural sector but also to contribute to the overall economic progress of the region, as reported by China Economic Net (CEN).
As per the MoU, the agreement between the two enterprises will establish a new cooperation framework encompassing knowledge exchange, technology transfer, capacity enhancement, project management, and investment promotion in agriculture and processed products.
The MoU further outlines that both parties will leverage their extensive experience in agriculture and processed products, capitalizing on the current favorable bilateral business environment between China and Pakistan to support the successful implementation of the project in Pakistan.
Henan Ruzhou Ideal Starch and KASB Corporation of Pakistan are committed to collaboratively working towards making this venture the first successful potato deep processing project cooperation between China and Pakistan.
