Bryansk potatoes will be grown in winter
In the Vygonichsky district of the Bryansk region, a local breeder has grown new frost-resistant varieties of potatoes. All of them are adapted to local climatic conditions.
The planting of such potatoes begins in April, ends in August, and the tubers are harvested already at frost. The breeder managed to create a unique variety that can withstand colds down to minus 4 degrees not so long ago.
The environmentally friendly “second bread” has already been sent for testing to the Lorch Federal Research Institute, which is located in Moscow.
According to the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company “Bryansk”, these potatoes can be included in the state register of breeding achievements. Then large agricultural holdings will be able to use it for production.
By the way, the novelties of the seed potatoes of the Vygonichi farmer are already known far beyond the borders of the Bryansk region.
