According to the decision of the Primorsky Interregional Rosselkhoznadzor Administration, it is planned to destroy 28.4 tons of food potatoes from China. The reason was the identification of a quarantine object for the EAEU in agricultural products – brown rot.
This is one of the most dangerous diseases caused by the bacterium Ralstonia solanacearum. Having penetrated into the aboveground parts of the plant, it multiplies rapidly, penetrates into the vessels and fills them with a brown mucous mass, which causes wilting. With brown rot, potato tubers are also severely affected.
By the order of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration, the release of a batch of Chinese products into circulation is prohibited. In the near future, it is subject to destruction at the choice of the owner.
Since the beginning of 2024, the eighth case of quarantine disease detection in imported potatoes has been recorded in the region. All batches of infected tubers with a total weight of 171.8 tons were also destroyed.
