It is possible that soon farmers from the areas affected by ASF in the Lublin region will be eager to mass … cultivate potatoes. At least that’s what Gustaw Jędrejek – President of the Lublin Chamber of Agriculture says.
he lockdown related to the coronavirus pandemic has taken a heavy toll on agricultural producers. The stopped gastronomy resulted in a drastic reduction in the demand for many products, such as poultry or vegetables. Including potatoes.
Meanwhile, as it turns out, over 170,000 tonnes of potatoes are to be processed annually by the plant that the South Korean company wants to build in Germany or in Poland – in the Lublin region – according to information provided by the Lublin Chamber of Agriculture.

The value of the investment project is initially estimated at USD 30 million.
Two locations are being considered for the construction of the plant: Germany and Poland (Lublin region). The plant is to process 172,000 sq m annually. tons of potatoes.
Farmers from the Lublin region were represented by Gustaw Jędrejek – President of the Lublin Chamber of Agriculture, who in his speech emphasized the possibilities of potato production by farmers from the northern areas of the province affected by ASF. – Farmers looking for new alternatives after the cessation of livestock production would be very happy to retrain for potato production – assured the President of the LIR during the meeting.
COMMENTS :
- It was predicted that potato prices would drop sharply if harvested as well as it did
- my God, potatoes, profitable once in ten years, even if they don’t rot or wither in the field, I used to have a few hectares, now there are 20 ares for myself, for chanterelles and a little for my family from the city.
- It’s probably good that maybe they will build in Poland, unless, to spite Kaczński, we have to ruin everything. Profitability threshold 21 grosz Agrofakt with a yield of 350 will be 30 grosze 15 PLN / 15 = 30gr the problem is sales and the cost of sales, which is about 35%. potatoes for the forest. In 1960, 50 million tons were produced and in 2020 6.8 million tons
- hey planted and now they are crying. For such areas, you need to have a signed contract, not a wise stupid thought that if there was a price for potatoes for two years, it would increase the acreage and sell it even more on the free market. I have 2 macaw potatoes for my family and the field is sown with wheat. Now the goods are waiting for an even better price and not give the potatoes away for free. You shot it yourself.
- The current government shows what really pays off, that is, do nothing, invest only the field in the lease, sit and smell on the welfare. More and more now bail is charged for oil and a million others. Do only for bureaucracy and the hump will grow by itself.
