The first batch of seed potatoes, weighing 16 tons, has arrived in Dagestan from the Astrakhan region. The shipment, initiated by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and sent by farmer Sakhib Veysov, is intended for growers in mountainous areas whose farmlands suffered from recent floods. The potatoes will be distributed for spring planting to farms in the Akushinsky, Levashinsky, and Tlyaratinsky districts. The delivery was received in Makhachkala by acting minister of agriculture Shamil Ramazanov, head of the People’s Front’s Dagestan branch Dzhamaludin Shigabutdinov, and other agricultural officials.
Dzhamaludin Shigabutdinov called the gesture a sign of solidarity among Russian farmers, emphasizing that agricultural producers from many regions have expressed a desire to help Dagestan, proving national unity and readiness to support one another during difficult times. Shamil Ramazanov thanked the Astrakhan farmers for their timely support, noting that the cargo arrived at the height of the potato planting season. In the coming days, two more trucks carrying seed potatoes from the Bryansk region are expected to arrive, with that shipment destined for farmers in the Laksky, Kulinsky, Gumbetovsky, Botlikhsky, and Khunzakhsky districts.
