Over 20,000 Tons of Potatoes from Nizhny Novgorod Region Tested and Certified for Export Between January and August 2024
Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, has played a crucial role in overseeing the safety and quality of potato exports from Russia to several countries, including Kyrgyzstan. Between January 9 and August 27, 2024, the Nizhny Novgorod Testing Laboratory conducted extensive testing on 100 potato samples, ensuring that the produce met the highest safety standards.
Since late July 2024, more than 20,000 tons of potatoes have been exported from the Nizhny Novgorod region to Kazakhstan, Serbia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The rigorous testing process revealed that the potatoes were free from harmful pests and diseases, reaffirming their safety and quality for international consumers.
As a result of these successful tests, Rosselkhoznadzor issued phytosanitary certificates for the potatoes, which serve as official documentation that the produce complies with the phytosanitary regulations of the importing countries. These certificates are essential for facilitating smooth and safe trade, ensuring that consumers in these countries receive high-quality potatoes that are safe for consumption.
The actions of Rosselkhoznadzor demonstrate the importance of stringent testing and certification processes in maintaining the quality and safety of agricultural exports. This ensures that Russian potatoes continue to meet the demands of international markets while protecting consumer health.
