On February 5th, Viettrans Logistics Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with PepsiCo Vietnam, held a seminar to evaluate the effectiveness of the FL2215 potato production model at the Dong Tham Plant and Animal Breeding Production Center in An Tuong ward, Tuyen Quang city. This model is part of a long-standing partnership between PepsiCo and Viettrans in Vietnam’s northern provinces. The operational launch of the PepsiCo plant in Ninh Binh has significantly increased the demand for processing potatoes, creating conditions to expand linked production zones, including in Tuyen Quang. Now in its second year in the province, the model for the Winter 2025-2026 crop covers 17 hectares in partnership with local farmers. Under the agreement, the enterprise provides technical transfers and guarantees the purchase of the entire output.
High Efficiency and Sustainable Direction:
The model has yielded impressive economic results, with an average productivity of 28 tons per hectare. At a farm-gate purchase price of 7,500 VND per kilogram, farmers earn a profit of 50 to 60 million VND per hectare after deducting all costs. The harvested potatoes are uniform in size and meet the high-quality standards required for processing. By proactively linking with farmers, providing technical support, and guaranteeing output, the model stabilizes production and increases the value of winter crops. The success provides a strong foundation for local authorities to replicate the model, aiming to form concentrated commercial potato production areas. This contributes to the sustainable restructuring of the agricultural sector by moving towards organized, value-chain-driven farming.
